Tenerife is the largest and the most beautiful of the archipelago known as the Canary Islands.
It has one of the worlds best all year round climates with springtime temperatures of 20º - 25º C.
The warm breezes brought by the trade winds cool down the summer heat and make Tenerife an ideal
place to enjoy your time
The island is divided into climate zones, the south is normally very hot and arid with a
far busier commercial feeling. The north of the island is more relaxed and seasonal it is
noted for its lush green vegetation and brilliant exotic flowers. During the winter months
it is possible to sun bathe on the beach and look up at the snow capped top of Mount Teide,
the dormant volcano situated in "Las Cañadas."
The beaches are of natural volcanic black sand and there are plenty of little coves to hide away
in, as well as larger well maintained stretches of beach with restaurants, showers, sun bed hire
etc. In Puerto de la Cruz the Lago Martinez complex has several sea water pools, a children's
area, restaurants and the new casino is situated here (opening August 2006) The famous Loro Parc
(Parrot Park) is also a great place to go. With penquins, tigers and other animals happy in their
natural surroundings. There are many shows and displays to keep you there from morning to night.
Walking in Tenerife whether for fun in the Botanical gardens or the Playa Jardin or on as
an excursion in the National Park offers the visitor the chance to see the real Tenerife.
With many fiestas and a colourful but relaxed nightlife Tenerife and its people will give you
a warm and friendly welcome.
It is no surprise that the north of Tenerife is fast becoming one of the best places in
which to holiday or retire as the weather and the steady pace of life help to promote good
health and a general feeling of well being.
Taxis are reasonably priced and there is a good bus service to all parts of the island.
Information and car rental is available from reception.
